Carroll County Same-Day Arrest Sources
Carroll County runs its jail through the Sheriff's office. The official Carroll County Jail page names the facility and its services. It links no daily roster or 24-hour booking feed. No 48-hour report or booking-photo display appears either. Nothing on the county site amounts to a true Carroll County daily arrest report.
That gap changes how a lookup works. A name missing from a commercial site or social post proves nothing about whether an arrest happened. The jail may be processing the person, he may already be released, or another agency may hold him. Court filings and custody data answer different questions.
The county's Carroll County Jail page confirms the facility itself. It offers no linked daily feed.

The county jail page covers operations and contact routing for the Carroll County Jail, not a person-by-person booking screen.
Check Today’s Carroll County Bookings
Start with the office holding the person. Keep the inquiry narrow. A full name, an approximate arrest time, and the arresting agency, if known, will separate one event from another without asking staff to build a report.
- Call the Carroll County Jail at 712-792-4394 for a current custody or jail-service question.
- For a booking sheet, arrest record, or releasable image, call the Sheriff’s Office at 712-792-4393 during published weekday hours.
- Ask whether the person is held, released, transferred, or not found. Those states are not interchangeable.
- For a record unavailable through routine inquiry, submit a focused Iowa Chapter 22 request.
- Use IowaVINE for later custody notifications and Iowa Courts Online for a filed case.
Staff can share only what law and policy allow. Juvenile, sealed, medical, protected-victim, and active-investigation material may be restricted or redacted.
Note: The Sheriff’s Office is at 114 E. 6th St., Carroll, with public office hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Fields a Daily Arrest Record May Contain
Carroll County posts no field list online. Treat these as categories for a narrow request, not as items guaranteed to appear or be released in every case.
| Requested field | What it can establish |
|---|---|
| Name and jail identifier | The name as booked and a booking number, if maintained and public. |
| Booking date and time | The recorded intake time for distinguishing similar events. |
| Arresting agency | The agency entered in the jail record, if that field exists. |
| Charge or authority | The charge as entered at intake, subject to later court change. |
| Bond or release condition | The status recorded when the responsive record was made. |
| Custody and release dates | Whether the person remained, left, or was transferred. |
| Court reference | A case number if maintained in the jail system. |
| Booking photograph | An existing image only if maintained and releasable. |
The county pages state no photo policy, fee, or display period. Iowa law does not require Carroll County to post booking photos online. Ask for an image "if maintained and releasable." Request the legal basis for any field withheld.
Request a Carroll County Booking Record
Carroll County's Open Records page and its policy carry out Iowa Code Chapter 22. Anyone can request a public record. No reason or identification is required. An oral request may be put in writing so both sides agree on the scope.
Name the person or a short date range. Then list each item separately. Include the booking register, booking sheet, custody or release entry, arresting-agency reference, and booking image. Ask for electronic copies where readily available. Request the authority behind any redaction. Also note the office need not create a daily arrest compilation that does not exist.
The policy allows reasonable actual costs and possible prepayment, with no special booking-photo price. Fulfillment should come as soon as practicable, normally within ten business days. A confidentiality review can run up to twenty calendar days. Those clocks govern record handling, not today's custody.
The county's Carroll County Open Records page is the official fallback. Use it when same-day information is not posted.

This path yields records, not a live feed.
Why a Fresh Arrest Can Be Hard to Verify
No public feed means no published intake timeline. Intake itself can involve identity work, screening, classification, entry of the arrest authority, and release or transfer decisions. Those steps point a same-day question to the jail without proving any Carroll-specific delay.
Someone arrested by city police, the Sheriff, or another agency may land in the county jail. He may be held elsewhere, released, or moved. The jail also houses people from other counties. So presence does not prove a Carroll arrest. Nor does a Carroll arrest guarantee he is still there.
For a wider date span, the Weekly Arrest Log covers multi-day news, archive, and request routes. It is not a live roster.
No Carroll Sheriff Arrest App
The sheriff's office offers no mobile app for bookings, inmate search, alerts, or photos. Its page does carry a social-media link. The county never calls those posts a complete arrest feed. Nor does it promise a posting schedule, so one announcement never covers every arrest that day. The Jail page instead links VINELink under victim notification. IowaVINE lets you search one person and set custody-event alerts, but it is no Sheriff app, daily report, court record, or mugshot source. Check a missing result with the jail.
Note: Official social posts are announcements, not evidence that every booking or release has been published.
Booked, Held, Released, or Sentenced
"Booked" means an intake record was created. "Held" means county-jail custody at the moment of confirmation. "Released" means the person has left custody while a record remains. "Transferred" sends the question to another county or authority.
IowaVINE covers participating Iowa county jails and state prisons. The Iowa Department of Corrections search covers sentenced or supervised people, while Iowa Courts Online shows filed cases and later action. Each channel can be right and still show a different stage.
An Arrest Is an Accusation
Charges entered at booking are just the first step. They can change as a case moves forward. Bond amounts and custody status can shift too, so treat any daily entry as a snapshot rather than a final word on the matter.
Court records live in a different system than jail rosters. Iowa Courts Online is the place to look once a case has been filed, and the Carroll County Clerk can help with local documents. Neither one shows who is in custody right now.
